We had a drinking party at Hakata Motsu-nabe (Offal hotpot) Shinbashi store to celebrate the 60th birthday of a colleague I worked with nearly 30 years ago. Apparently, the restaurant was chosen because it was a restaurant that the secretary often went to for lunch when he moved to Tokyo... Some of the people I haven't seen there have been around 20 years, but it's strange how when I meet them, I always go back to who I was back then. . It seems like nothing has changed and everyone is getting older. Some of us already have grandchildren... Since it was a la carte, we ordered hotpot with chin soup Motsu-nabe (Offal hotpot), vinegared giblets, sesame mackerel, grilled mentaiko egg, fried chicken, chicken skin, and potato salad. Motsu-nabe (Offal hotpot) here has a lot of burdock in it, and it's delicious. The chicken skin seems a little different, but the vinegared motsu and sesame mackerel are also Fukuoka specialties and delicious. While wondering why folk tales are so exciting, I got moderately intoxicated with the delicious snacks and alcohol.
