ふとした事情でオフィスを出るのが遅れ、某店をめがけて出たのはいいが、よもやこんな人気店だったとは思いもよらんかったという凄まじい並びを見て敢え無く方針転換。
そのまま、昭和から取り残されたかのような店が居並ぶ大手町ビルへ転戦したが、こちらもまた、中々の人の入り。ランチ時の人出を見ると、コロナ前と変わらないな。
そんな悠長な感慨にふけりつつ、そろそろ決めないといよいよ難民になるぞってな時に、多少並びはしていたものの、エイヤで心を決めて並んだのがこちらの店。
コロナ以前は時々使っていたのだが、コロナを機に営業が不安定になったりして、敬遠するようになり、来るのはそれこそ3年ぶりくらいかもしれない。
12:00前ということもあり、5分ほど待って中へ。メニューを眺めてみれば、時勢を考えればやむなしで料金は軒並み上がっている。以前、1,200円を超えるメニューなんてあったかなぁ。無料のサービスも、パン、パスタ大盛り、半熟卵、ブルーシールアイスのどれか1つ。以前はこれも、2つくらい選べなかったっけ。コーヒー類が無料で付くのは相変わらずだけど。そして注文はQRコード読み込み。時流だね。
〈桜えびとからすみのペペロンチーノ〉を大盛りにして、アイスコーヒーをもらう。サラダは無料。
1,300円という値段を見た時には若干苦笑いしてしまったが、ニンニクも唐辛子も利かせつつ、桜えびやからすみの味もちゃんと生かしたモチモチ生パスタのスパゲッティは、わかりやすく美味しいし素材の使い方にも納得感がある。イタリアン/パスタに求めるものをキチンと打ち返してくれる感があるのも嬉しい。分量も大盛りにしたせいだと言われればそれまでだが、ちゃんとあるし。コーヒー・サラダ付きでこの値段で食べさせてくれる店は界隈で稀少。
繁盛店でもあり接客はややせわしなさがあるのは事実だけれど、緩みが無いのはいい。
今回頼んだのは1,300円だけど、週替わりメニューで1,000円以内に納まるメニューも用意していたり、メニューを絞ることで原価を抑え込みに行っているんだろうな、とか、久方ぶりに訪れてみて、この世知辛い時流に可能なかぎり抗おうという努力も見えて、頭が下がる。
そもそも何でこの店から足が遠のいたんだっけ、全然ローテーションの一角で使えるじゃないか、と自分の不覚を思い知ったランチだった。
