この日は有給休暇を取っていたが、海外現地法人の後輩が出張で帰国した際、夕食の誘いを受けたので、夜から出掛けて行った。店は、何か日本的な冬のものをとのことだったのだが、相伴に預かる身。河豚なんぞ頼むと殺されそうなので、手頃なしゃぶしゃぶにしたのである。
この店は、何度も横を通っているが利用は初めて。文豪 大谷崎の生誕地に立つビルの二階にある。谷崎は、高校生の折に、かなり読んだし、社会人になっても中公文庫より、テーマ別に編集されたものを何冊か読んだ。本当は、全集を買って、とことん読むべき大作家なのだろうけど、日々の忙事にかまけそれも果たせない。
そんなゆかりのある場所で、店名もそれに肖ったものである。
店は、忘年会と思しきグループ他を除いて、カウンター席は空いていた。先ずは乾杯の後、アテにエイひれとローストビーフを求め、暫し歓談である。同じ会社でも頻繁に会えぬ同僚ときて、仲が良いとなると、食事も尚美味しである。
駐在員はおしなべて、「肉はやはり日本が一番」というのも頷ける。柔らかく濃厚なローストビーフはジューシーで美味しである。
この後は、メインのしゃぶしゃぶだが、牛肉と豚肉の混在したものをセットメニューで頼んだ。、一人４，２００円となるとまあ安い方だろう。牛肉と豚肉を同時にしゃぶしゃぶで食べるのは、初めて。それぞれに良さがあるが、僕は牛肉に軍配を上げる。
豚肉は味付けてこそ、その旨味が種々引き出されて楽しめるが、牛肉は、何も加えずとも、最低限の調味料で、深みを感じることが出来るが故。野菜の甘みも充分楽しんだ。冬の鍋はこれがいい。
追加で肉を少し頼んで、〆はラーメン。幾分スープが薄いが、胡椒と塩で自分の好みにして、満腹感も味わった。最後に柚のアイスクリームで、口中を爽やかにして全て完了。〆て、３人で１８，０００円少しである。儲かっている現地法人の後輩に馳走になった。
先輩であることの、威厳もへったくれもないのである。非常に楽しんだ。値段なりの肉をちゃんと供する店だと思う。
