It was warm and sunny, hard to believe it was February, and the temperature was 17 degrees Celsius. It's a nice day except for the pollen. I was aiming to have enchilada lunch for the first time in a while at the long-established Mexican restaurant ZONA ROSA in Ebisu, but the restaurant was temporarily closed for lunch due to catering. Unable to shake my Mexican mode, I visited La Esquina, which was just up the road, for the first time. When I looked at the menu and tried to order the roast chicken plate, which seemed like the only option, it was out of stock. I had no choice but to order Mexican taco rice. I followed the recommendation and topped it with a fried egg, but when I looked at the menu later, the fried egg was 200 yen. It's obviously expensive compared to 1,100 yen for taco rice with a drink. For lunch here, you can get free refills of Mexican-style minestrone soup. The soup can be topped with crushed tortilla chips. The Mexican taco rice that was brought to me was Spanish rice with beef chili, tomato salsa, guacamole, salad, and cheese, but it felt like the Okinawan taco rice had a lot less cheese. The soup with unlimited refills is delicious, but as I continued eating both the Mexican taco rice and the soup, I started to notice how salty it was. The quality was fair, except for the high fried eggs, but it still didn't surpass the long-established ZONA ROSA. There are no repeats. Mexican taco rice regular 1,100 yen, fried egg topping 200 yen, total 1,300 yen
