We enjoyed delicious food and drinks on a rainy night!
Light jazz music was playing in the air as we relaxed in the room on a rainy evening. We enjoyed our meal in our usual seat at the corner of the counter. We had a bottle of beer (Aka-Boshi), appetizers, piping hot chawanmushi with abalone and oysters, sashimi, grilled ebodai, a small hotpot full of vegetables, dried mullet roe, and finally Sushi. For the sake, we had Shoyuki (Shizuoka) and Sanzenzakura (Hokkaido). Finally, a little of the precious Asahi sake. Food made with care and love, new sake. We also had some fun chatting with the head chef about the recent storms around Japan and the lack of fish stock. It was delicious, and I really like this great restaurant.
A warm "wild boar hotpot" on a cold night. The combination of alcohol and food will warm you up
This was my first visit of the year, and I had a relaxed dinner at the counter. Feeling the cold wind, I started off with an appetizer of "Masayuki" (Shizuoka) sake. Then there was sashimi, "Kokuryu" sake (Fukui), today's grilled fish (herring), "wild boar hotpot", and "Shinshin" sake. "Uroko (2023 and 2020)" and seasoned rice. The most delicious ingredients of the season were carefully cooked and presented as a high-quality dish. I ate and drank everything deliciously. There were many customers inside the restaurant, but it had a quiet and elegant feel. My conversation with the head chef across the counter was both happy and sad. This is a shining restaurant in Shinjuku 3-chome, next to Hanazono Shrine.
We had some delicious food and drinks at the end of the year!
I had a relaxed dinner at the counter, thinking it would be the last one of the year. I started with a bottle of Akaboshi beer, followed by Raifuku, Masayuki, Yoakemae, Shinshin, and sake. I had a sashimi platter, a large grilled fish, stewed duck and leeks, homemade karasumi (2023 and 2020), and then the meal, and finally some hot tea. Everything was delicious and it was a very enjoyable evening.

I was surprised to see so many inbound tourists even before arriving in the Hanazono Shrine area. I entered the restaurant at 6pm, and first of all, I had draft beer and a salad of cod sprouts. I had assorted sashimi, chawanmushi, grilled fish, Simmered dish with whale from Miura Port, two kinds of mullet roe (2023 and 2020), and finally bamboo shoot rice + nori seaweed from Noto. During this time, two groups of inbound tourists entered the restaurant and enjoyed Shokado Bento (boxed lunch). We moved on to sake, such as "Raifu" from Chikusei City, Ibaraki Prefecture, "Sanzenzakura" from Hokkaido, "Kamishin (nigori sake)" from Ibaraki Prefecture, and the precious "Otokoyama" from Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. It was very pleasant, and we ate and drank a lot. The restaurant, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in September, seems to be changing and evolving more and more. There were two women in the restaurant, a man laughing in the private room, and the inbound tourists were happily eating Japanese-style meal. It's such a great restaurant that it's almost a shame to introduce it. I'd love to see it continue to evolve with everyone.
