At the counter watched over by a brown statue of the Virgin Mary, customers enthralled by the personality of the bar owner and absinthe, regulars and first-timers alike, all enjoy their time together. Blue flames rise from the sugar cubes, water pours from the fountain, and the green glass turns white. With each sip, my consciousness becomes pleasantly cloudy. I wonder how many drinks I've had already, and I melt into the Shinjuku night.
