[5 minutes walk from Okubo Station] Authentic Nepalese cuisine by a local chef
A little way from Okubo Station, this hidden restaurant is tucked away in a residential area. We serve authentic Nepalese cuisine with sophisticated spices. You can enjoy authentic Nepalese cuisine th |
This is a Nepalese Cuisine near Okubo Station. The restaurant is located at the edge of an area crowded with international restaurants. The exterior is a bit plain, despite the large sign. The light inside the restaurant does not leak out, so it gives a slightly dark impression, which is probably why it feels plain. Inside, there are tables near the entrance and at the back. There seems to be seats on the second floor, and if you order draft beer, the staff will pour it on the second floor and bring it to you. The atmosphere is a bit old-fashioned, but this is probably standard for cheap Nepalese Cuisine. The menu is mainly Nepalese Cuisine, and they also have a curry and naan set in the style of an Indian-Nepalese curry restaurant. Nepalese Cuisine is generally cheap, with a wide variety of small appetizers for 350 yen. Dal bhat, a Nepalese set meal, is also available from 600 yen. ● Santori the Malts (450 yen) Nepalese people do not seem to be in the habit of drinking draft beer, and in Nepalese Cuisine in this area, you can see draft beer poured to the brim. This is also typical, with a ratio of liquid to foam of about 9:1. The original price is low and the amount is large, so it feels like a good deal. ■ Appetizer - Gaure Achar (Free) If you order alcohol, you will receive a free appetizer. It is achar (pickled vegetables) named after the restaurant. It does not look very good, but it is made of finely chopped vegetables and beans mixed with spices. In Japan, it is something like garlic miso or chili miso. It is not hot, but moderately spicy. It is free, so it is kind. ■ Batmas Sadeko (350 yen) Roasted soybeans marinated in spices. The beans are almost the same as the beans for Setsubun, so that is what gives this dish its spice flavor. Since it is seasoned in Nepal, there are not many types of spices and it is not spicy. Therefore, it is easy for Japanese people to eat, and the taste goes well with alcohol. ■ Chana fry (350 yen) Chickpeas stir-fried with spices. They are slightly different from regular chickpeas, the beans are a little smaller in size, and some parts are blackish or brownish. Compared to regular chickpeas, they have a rich flavor and a strong texture, making them delicious. This dish also has a light spice, but is characterized by being a little spicy for Nepalese Cuisine. ■ Sukti (700 yen) Stir-fried dried lamb. This is a classic Meat Dishes for Nepalese Cuisine, and you can enjoy the concentrated flavor of the meat. Since the price is low, the amount of meat is relatively small, but since it contains a lot of vegetables, the overall volume is not small. The seasoning is the same as the other dishes, and it is a little spicy for Nepalese Cuisine. ■ Gaule A set (600 yen) The Gaule special chicken set is the same price, but when I asked the staff, they told me that the only difference is the curry, and the side dishes are the same for both. In conclusion, they have a low-priced dal bhat for 600 yen, and you can choose from chicken, mutton, and pork curry. I chose mutton curry. As the red color of the curry indicates, it is spicier than other restaurants, which hides the umami of the mutton, but this level of spiciness makes it more delicious with rice. The dal is made with urad dal (Japanese name: black gram), and the beans are a little light. It feels cheap, but that makes it feel more authentic. The tarkari is fried potatoes with less spices. The saag is fried komatsuna and seasoned with cumin, but it doesn't have much of a scent. They may have made both in advance and frozen. The rice is a blend of long-grain and short-grain rice. For some reason, it has a slightly brownish color. The golbera achar (tomato chutney) is a little light. ●Khukri rum (400 yen) Nepalese rum is also cheap at 400 yen by the glass. The draft beer is cheap and plentiful, and there are plenty of snacks. In addition, the dal bhat at the end of the meal is cheap and perfect. There are better restaurants in terms of taste and attention to detail, but the strengths of this restaurant are its low prices and extensive menu. This is a great place to drink alcohol with Nepalese Cuisine.
