いつもはフレンチやイタリアンのお店ばかり選んで女子会をしていた友人と、たまには趣向を変えてみようとカレーを食べに行く事になりました。
せっかくのディナーなので、おしゃれなインド料理レストランがいいなあと考えて、選んだのが東京ミッドタウンのガーデンテラスにあるスタイリッシュな「ニルヴァーナ ニューヨーク」。
このお店は1970年にニューヨーク マンハッタンで生まれたインド料理の名店。それが33年後、建物の老朽化で惜しまれつつクローズしたのです。それを創業者の息子さんが、ここ東京で復活させたのだそうです。
ラグジュアリーな店内はゴールドをアクセントとしたインテリアで、普通のカレー屋さんとはまったくイメージが違います。カレー好きのカップルならロマンチックなデートにも使えそう。
プリフィクスコースがスパークリングワイン付きで5000円と言うのも、いつになく低予算で女子会にもぴったりです。美しい夜景を眺めつつスパークリングワインで乾杯。
最初に出てきたのが大好きなブラッタチーズと苺のサラダ。さっぱりまろやかでいいスタートです。すべてがインド料理に固執しないのもいいのです。
スープはクコの実のラッサムスープ。南インドの辛くて酸味のあるトマトベースのスープです。インドっぽくなってきました。
メインのチョイスはタンドリープロウンかゴビスパイスローストのいずれか。ゴビ(カリフラワー)のローストも気になりますが、やっぱりタンドリー海老を選ぶと、これがいい味わいでした。さすがにタンドリー釜で焼いただけあります。
カレーのチョイスはゴアオイスターか蕪のダルカレー、500円アップでバターチキンカレーの3択。牡蠣が大好きなので私はそちらを、友人はやっぱり定番で外せないとバターチキンカレーを選びシェアしました。どちらも洗練されたモダンインド料理と言うイメージ。
もちろんモチモチで美味しいナンも付いていて、デザートにはピスタチオのアイスも出て満足度の高いコースでした。サクサク出るので、話したりない私たちは、別料金のマサラティーをオーダーしてゆっくりおしゃべりしてディナーを締めくくりました。
ひと味違うインド料理の女子会は、印象に残る夜となりました。
