Lunch at Restaurants building in Hiroo. This building is already the sixth one I've been to. Surprisingly, many places don't do weekday lunch or are closed on weekdays, but I thought Chinese food would be okay, so I went here. I ordered the Twice Cooked Pork. The steamed chicken was accented with a sauce of green onions and coriander, and it was a bit oily and not spicy, like a mouthwatering chicken. The pickled mustard greens felt fresh. Maybe it's because there's only one kitchen and one service, so I waited about 20 minutes from here. My first impression was that there wasn't much Twice Cooked Pork. Maybe it's because the steamed chicken is served first, and it's a restaurant for women. Then, I took a bite, and it was spicy, just like the chili paste. Cabbage and green peppers are standard, but it also has onions and komatsuna. If it had garlic leaves, it would be Sichuan style, but well. I think the pork was parboiled. The chili oil at the bottom may have a stronger flavor than the chili paste. The soup has a Medicinal Food feel, but it's also strong with pepper. The interior is elegant and they play bossa nova music, but the food is spicy and punchy. And the komatsuna is a creative Chinese dish using Japanese ingredients. It's a mystery. Personally, I won't be coming back.
