イラン料理ってどんな料理！？
広尾にある本格イラン料理レストラン『レストラン アラジン』を訪ねます。なかなかイラン料理とは縁がないですが、かつてイランの旧名はペルシャと名乗ったので、ペルシャ料理とイコールでもございます。中東の料理のイメージというと、スパイス料理を想像しますが、ペルシャでは強い香辛料を使わないのが特徴。また、国民の多くがイスラム教徒なので、肉については豚肉文化はなく、羊肉、鶏肉、牛肉が中心になっております。
代表的な料理といえば、、、
それはカバブでしょう。ただし、イランのカバブは、肉の塊を削ぎ落として食べるものではなく、串焼きでいただくのが一般的。今回は「Mix Kabab（4200円）」なる三種のカバブをいただきます。まさに、羊肉、鶏肉、牛肉の揃い踏み。前述の通り、辛味のある香辛料使いではなく、香が豊かなハーブ使いといった味づけだ。これを受け止めるライスは、バスマティライスのようなパラパラのライスで、これがカバブの香りや脂とすこぶる相性がいい。
あた、やはり中東の料理であるフムスも注文。ひよこ豆という植物性のみなのに、まったりとしたコクがたまらない。フムスを見つけるとついつい頼んじゃうんですよね。笑
