派手な中華料理屋の横の階段を上がった2階にある酒場に入ってみました。神田に本店があるようです。店内では若者異性グループ、サラリーマングループがにぎやかに盛り上がっていましたが私はそれを横目にカウンター席へ。カウンター席は眼前の壁が高く調理の様子はまったく見えません。
日本語の達者な女性が対応してくれます。メニュー表を見るとそれほど献立が多いわけではありません。しかし今夜のオススメメニューはバラエティに富み、毎日の仕入れはしっかりしているお店と察します。
どうやら吉田類さんが訪問したことがあるらしく、それが本店か当店かははっきりしませんが、類さんがお店のお勧めメニューを解説するページがあります。ではそれに従ってオーダーします。
●お通し
牛すき豆腐、お吸い物。決して安くはありませんがその価値に見合う手の込んだ料理です。
●「刺身 盛り合わせ」
鯛、平政、平目、めかじき、と言われた気がします。鯛は炙ってあるので香りがいい。添えられた赤わかめはまるで今海から取ってきたような潮の味。全部新鮮で美味しいです。
●「特製 湯葉のピザ」
あまり見ない料理です。あおさの香り？でしょうか。チーズの青みもあるかもしれません。上物は美味しいですが…私は…普通のピザ生地の方が好み…かな。すみません。
ちなみに器がいいんですね。九谷焼青郊窯、また天目茶碗など、色彩でも魅せることに気を払っています。
気っ風の良さそうな大将がカウンター越しにお話ししてくれました。私は人見知りなので会話が盛り上がらずすみませんです。2回目からは盛り上がるんで…！
●「大海老の塩焼き」
大将に勧められて、一本いただきます。
海老って、こんなに脂を湛えているのですか！ すごい肉汁ですよ。大将曰く仕入れた時から脂が滴っていたそうです。そんな海老、いる？ 殻を剥いて見ればどんどん海老汁が流れてきます。勿体無いもったいない。むき身をその脂に付けていただきます。美味い。こりゃ美味い。本音を言えばもっとデカい身でもいいのでは！
ごちそうさまでした。今夜は早く帰らないといけないのでこれで失礼します。食べるべき海鮮はまだありますが仕方無し。ここも独り飲みより大勢できて肴をつつくのが楽しそうですね。
レジ横に「元ラグビー日本代表 ◯◯」というサイン色紙が掲示されています。大将がお店を開く前にすでにあったそうで、誰だかわからないそうです。一体誰やー、名前が読めん
