2022年3月某日の18時過ぎに訪ねた。
上野広小路駅から徒歩2分ほどの場所にある大衆居酒屋「上野市場 本店」。
広い店内は3割程度客で埋まっていた。
広めのテーブル席に2人で座る。
まずは「生ビール（中ジョッキ）」¥460で喉を潤し、つまみを注文する。生ビールはスーパードライ。通常の提供料金よりお得なメニューが多く、料理を選ぶのが楽しい。
揚げ茄子 ¥580→\380：お得なメニューから注文した揚げ茄子。ボリューム的には物足りなさがあるが、大根おろしとめんつゆで味わうハズレの無い一品。
サバの開き ¥690：良いサイズ感のサバの開き。香ばしい焼き加減で食べ応えのあるお得なつまみ。身がしっかりとして塩気もちょうど良い。これは毎回頼みたくなる一品。
厚揚げ ¥470→\330：おろし生姜とネギと共に食べる厚揚げ。醤油をかけて味わうが、自宅ではなく店で食べるとなんだか美味しく感じるつまみ。
麻婆豆腐 ¥800→\580：結構大きめの皿で提供される麻婆豆腐。仄かな山椒の風味と程好い甘みが心地好い麻婆豆腐。ビールと共に味わうと良い感じ。通常価格よりかなりお得な金額で提供しているのはありがたい。
うなぎ肝串焼き（2本） ¥580→\430：軽く山椒がかかったうなぎ肝串焼き。甘みのあるタレで味わうが、質はイマイチ。値段が安いので味には期待せず食べるのが良いだろう。「福徳長蔵酒（熱燗）3合」¥1,080をちびちび飲みながら串を味わう。飲みやすい日本酒。
しらすおろし ¥330：程好くつまみを食べた後にしらすおろしに落ち着く。熱燗としらすおろしの相性が抜群に良い。大根おろしが若干多めなのが良い。
2人で料理をつまんで程好く酒を楽しんだ。お得なメニューを中心に頼んだこともあり、リーズナブルな利用であった。気軽に飲める居酒屋でありながら料理のバリエーションが豊富で何度来ても楽しめる「上野市場」。上野・湯島エリアで飲むには便利な店である。
