西日暮里駅のJR出口2を出て、右手に進み日暮里舎人ライナーの高架下の尾久橋通りを渡って、比較的すぐの場所にある定食屋さん「定食 酒 きのや」。歩いて3分ほど、土曜日の14:30ごろに初訪問。
レンガ調の外観のビルで中2階には焼肉店があって、さらに階段を上がった2階が店舗。店内は、2〜4人掛けのテーブル席が8卓ある。お昼どきは過ぎていたので2,3組の先客。
11:00〜22:00までの営業時間で、昼夜ともに定食メニューがある。刺身定食、生姜焼き定食、油淋鶏定食、アジフライ定食、メンチカツ定食、から揚げ定食、もつ煮込み定食。780円〜980円と千円以内。
他に表の立て看板や手書きのメニューで、本日の刺身定食、豚キムチ定食、よだれとり定食、ホッケ焼き定食、サバ焼き定食、とり天ぶっかけそばと魚・肉共にいろいろとある。迷ったが今回はアジフライ定食にする。

ほかにも夜メニューがあって各種一品料理がラインナップ、お酒もひと通りあってちょい飲みにも良さげ、中国人らしきご夫婦が切り盛り、小さいお子さんもいて可愛い。待つこと7,8分で提供あり。
見ためにお皿からはみ出んばかりジャンボサイズの3枚おろしのアジフライ。タルタルソースが別器、からしはお皿に、卓上に普通のソース。まずはそのまま食べてみる。
衣はカリッカリで、アジは身厚でフワフワしていて、冷凍物ではない鮮度の良さを感じる。これにタルタルがまた合う、ご飯が進んでいい。適度にからしとソース、タルタルと交互に食べ進む。
ポテサラ小鉢にみそ汁、お漬物が付く。美味しくって満足のいくアジフライ定食だった。お支払いにはPayPayが使える。お魚は千住の市場で仕入れているとか、間違いないので昼夜関係なく、またお魚を食べに来よう。
