4 minutes from Shimokitazawa Station ◆ Enjoy Lebanese and Arabic cuisine, as well as Parisian B-grade gourmet food and natural wines ♪
We offer popular dishes eaten daily in France, Lebanese and Arabic dishes unique to Paris, a city with many immigrants, and reasonably priced natural wines to go with them. You can enjoy healthy appet |
The other day, on the way to Nasu Oyaji, I found a signboard advertising Sri Lankan curry at a French cuisine Bistro. It's a very common sight in Shimokitazawa, where even places that aren't curry shops sell curry, but you don't hear much about authentic Sri Lankan curry in Shimokitazawa, so it's quite rare. This is a hidden Bistro where you can enjoy French cuisine B-grade gourmet food such as Arabic and Lebanese cuisine with a glass of wine. For lunch, this restaurant offers three types of Sri Lankan food: rice and curry, biryani, and one plate, each of which is quite rich. Today, the rice and curry menu comes with vegetable curry and dal as the main curry, and the chicken biryani also comes with a whole leg, which is very appealing. The one plate menu comes with 10 side dishes, and they are confident in their special beef curry, so I had no choice but to order it. The chef who served us was a Sri Lankan man, who was the owner and chef himself, and they were a two-person team. ■Ayurvedic Plate 1200 yen Colorful side dishes are arranged in a radial pattern, and at first glance it looks like a regular one-plate meal, but it's French cuisine, and the bright spiced rice made from basmati and turmeric gives it a slightly more formal finish. The beets, pumpkin, bitter melon, and cabbage all have a Sri Lankan aroma that brings out the deliciousness of the ingredients, and the most unique dish was the radish mixed with a large amount of Maldivian fish. The umami and aroma of the fish are at the forefront, and the crisp sweetness of the radish gives it a Japanese taste. Is that Izakaya (Japanese-style bar)? It has a familiar and bold taste. The dal is made from lentils, which are just like hokohoko parippu. It's not very liquid, so it's not very compatible, but it's still good. The long-awaited beef curry is also less liquid, and is a concentrated type of umami flavor stewed in tuna paha blended with roasted rice. When mixed together, the spicy and smooth pol sambol comes to life. And the radish mentioned earlier is at the center of the flavor. This is the key. The rice is voluminous at 200g, but perhaps because it contains very little oil, it was very light and smooth. ■ Dessert and drink set 300 yen The daily dessert is an Arabian sweet made from semolina flour and coconut, garnished with peaches. It has a novel uiro-like texture. It goes without saying that it goes well with the vibrant apple tea, and the pot was plentiful, allowing for a relaxing time. The other day I had what I thought was the best Sri Lankan plate of the year at Japananka in Kawasaki, and this was already just as good. A Sri Lankan lunch in a chic Bistro with a red motif. As expected of Shimokita, the selection is overwhelming. Curries that are not served at curry restaurants are also worth paying attention to.
