A weekday evening before a holiday. It's so cold it feels like winter has returned. Until recently, it was warm enough to make you feel a little spring. At a time like this, it's nice to feel spring in your food. My friend and I chose a restaurant called "Harukaze". We were excited by a name that evokes a spring feeling. So we went in. We thought it might be a sliding door, but it wouldn't budge. Hmm? Hmm? It wouldn't open. We pushed it hard and it opened. Oh no, it was a pushing door. Sorry about that. The restaurant has a counter and tables in the back (there seemed to be seats on the second floor as well). When we visited, there was one group in the back and one regular customer at the counter. It was a quick visit today, so we sat at the counter! What should we have? Well, I'll have a bottled beer, please. Bottled beer (medium bottle of Sapporo Lager, 700 yen). My friend had a lemon sour. We toasted. The appetizer was Simmered dish white scallops. The sashimi platter is for two people: Kaede (2,200 yen), fried chicken (880 yen), horse sashimi (from Kumamoto prefecture, 1,078 yen). The leek sauce on the fried chicken is so tasty! It might be versatile. To finish off the meal, we had a baby sardine and leek omelette (880 yen). It could do with being a little less liquid, but... we were more than full! Maybe it's because it's a family-run restaurant, but it has a cozy atmosphere! We had a few drinks. It might also be a good way to enjoy seasonal produce. Thank you for the meal.
