若い頃、養老の瀧、そしてつぼ八、すずめのお宿などのチェーン居酒屋があり、
村さ来は、その後ぐらいにできた居酒屋だったと記憶している——間違っていたらすみません。
養老の瀧はかなり数が減ってしまったが、今も健在である。
つぼ八とすずめのお宿は、最近見かけないが、今もあるのだろうか・・・？
数か月前に通りの反対側を歩いていたときに看板が目に入った。
数日後の一人居酒屋のときに行ってみた。
それほど人は入っていなかった。
たまたま、それともやっぱり目立たないため・・・？
瓶ビールを注文してメニューを見る。
かなりの種類がある。昔はこんなになかったよなあ。
飲み放題もあるが、宴会コースのみ。それで若者が来ないのかな——私は静かで嬉しいが。
最近は飲み放題が安いチェーン店が増えているが、
一度入ってみて、そのうるささとトイレの汚さにうんざりして、
飲み放題のある店には絶対に行かなくなった。

最近コーンバターをいただくことはほとんどないが、
若い頃によく友人たちと食べたものである。
そのとき思い出した——よく思い出す男である。
大学時代にロックのサークルに「むらさき」という名前の新入生が入ってきた。
当時一緒に住んでいた彼女が「ディープパーブルみたいで格好いいね」と。
「でも、漢字は『紫』ではなく『村先』って書くらしいよ」と言うと、
ぷっと吹き出し、「村の先ってどれだけ山奥なの」と。
