I came to Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) Gen, a 2-minute walk from Sugamo Station. Take the elevator to the 4th floor and there are table seats and private rooms with light partitions. I was given a private room by the window. After all, I was surprised at the all-you-can-drink price of 750 yen for 90 minutes! First up is draft beer. The fried eggplant matched well with the spiciness of the green onions. Salmon yukke with homemade spicy sauce and chilled tomatoes are fresh and juicy. The yam mentaiko cheese is also fluffy and voluminous. After the beer, I ordered about 4 glasses of lemon sour and it totally paid for itself.
