It's been a while since I drank Akabane. I wanted to eat fish, so I made a reservation at this restaurant that seemed to have a good reputation, and visited on a Friday at 8pm. Since it was a Friday night, I was only able to get a seat at the counter if reservation on the day, but the counter seat is quite spacious and the staff often pass by, so it was easy to order and it was surprisingly good. First, we toasted with beer, then immediately switched to sake and ordered dishes. First, the appetizer comes, and each person is asked to choose two out of over 10 different small plates. This is fun. I chose simmered bamboo Simmered dish, wakame stalks, and kiriboshi. The assorted sashimi platter is ordered for a minimum of 2 people. This is amazing. As you can see in the photo, 10 types of sashimi are lined up in a gorgeous visual. The clerk explained to me about the fish, but since I hadn't written it down, I forgot about it, and ended up saying, "What is this?" as I ate it. The sashimi is fresh and the size is just right. This goes well with sake. The potato salad has lots of toppings on it and has a fun texture. Stir-fried whelks with garlic butter is a dish of whelks, wakame seaweed, and green onions stir-fried in garlic butter, which goes surprisingly well with sake. Now that you're nice and drunk, thank you for the meal.
