一ヶ月前に電話で予約をお願いしたところ、既に予約枠は満席なので、当日来てくださいとのこと。人気店だからオフシーズンで日曜日なのに混んでるんだな、と思って16時オープンの20分前に到着、店先で小雨の中のきで雨を凌ぎながら立って待つことに。ちょっと寒かったかな、しかし、16時丁度開店しましたが、誰も来ませんでした。5分過ぎに予約してない？感じの中年夫婦が入り、その30分後、若いカップルが入ってきて、どうも予約してる人が何組あるのかなぁ、という感じでした。
食事は、水槽で泳いでいるカワハギを1匹その場で捌いてフグのお造り、テッサのような円形に並べて真ん中に新鮮なら肝が。肝が大きくて多い、こんなに取れるのか、新鮮です全く臭みもクセもなく美味い。
次に名物、ウツボの肉厚を焼くことに。これもまた、皮がパリッとして美味いぞ！
さらに太地町の鯨、大将は生で刺身で食べても良いですと。ちょっとビビりながら生を頂く。美味いぞ。半分は焼きにした。レアが美味い。
最後は鯨の臓物、これまた食感もコリコリとしたところもあり珍妙だ。これだけ和歌山の地物でこだわったおしゃれな居酒屋はないのでは。
