This Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) is located near the Shirahama coast in Wakayama Prefecture, and is located on the second floor of Fisherman's Wharf, which specializes in eel. I used it on a Saturday night during the holidays during my summer trip to Nanki Shirahama. When I arrived at the second floor of Fisherman's Wharf, the front of the store was crowded with young people and families. When I searched for it, the only shops that looked popular in the area were this one and the one across the street, so I guess there would be a lot of customers. After waiting for about 30 minutes, I was finally able to enter the store. The set menu includes eel rice bowl, eel rice bowl, Japanese black beef grilled meat set meal, and chicken set meal. I wanted to try the eel that this restaurant sells, but my wife told me to save money, so I ordered a set meal (1,078 yen) from the main restaurant's specialty, the cheapest. The Torikara set meal includes fried chicken, nagashi tofu, rice, soup, and pickles. The fried chicken is just average. It is lightly fried and seasoned with only salt for a light taste. There are about 7 to 8 pieces, which is sufficient in terms of volume. For a tourist destination, the price is fairly low and the taste is relatively basic, so I think I'll use it again the next time I go to Shirahama Beach. It was a feast.
