Remarks |
Kanagasomachi, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is a place where beautiful rural mountain scenery spreads out before you. The former Nishio Elementary School, which once stood quietly there, was reborn in July 2022 as an auberge offering an accommodation experience surrounded by Hokuriku cuisine and abundant nature. The chef is young chef Itoi Shota, born in 1992. After working in restaurants in various countries and regions, including Japan, he won the grand prize at RED U-35, Japan's largest chef competition, at the youngest age ever (26 years old), and then came to Kanagasomachi as a new frontier. Having moved to this area and facing it head-on, he is conveying the charm of this area to all those who visit Auf through his cuisine. |
Auberge is about 30 minutes by car from Komatsu Station. You can see it on the map, but you can only get there by car. It's been talked about a lot, as it was renovated from an elementary school and turned into Auberge. Not only that, the chef is also a talented person who won the RED U30 Grand Prix as the youngest person to do so. I think it's fairly easy to get a reservation. There are many seats. I made a reservation on a holiday night and stayed overnight. You can also just eat there without staying. They also serve lunch. The meal itself costs just over 20,000 yen. If you stay overnight, it's about 50,000 yen per person. The exterior is just like a school, and the hallways and other parts of the school are still there, but Restaurants and the inside of the rooms have been beautifully renovated. The room is not that big, but it's clean. The meal consisted of 9 dishes, dessert, and small sweets. They originally only had one risotto, but they added another one because they had some good green peas. The first amuse-bouche was delicious, and my expectations were high. The wild boar ham was delicious. The bamboo shoots were monstrous in size, something I'd never seen before, and I really liked the dish that allowed you to eat them in three different ways. Eating them with butter was especially amazing. The risotto was with milt, asparagus, and bamboo shoots. The green pea risotto was also very delicious! The rice was apparently hotarumai, a type of rice grown locally around here. It was quite filling, and overall I was satisfied. By the way, the breakfast was a typical Japanese breakfast, which was also good.
