鹿児島で仕事である。
折角鹿児島まで行くのだからと前日に鹿児島入りして今後の修羅場に向けあらかじめ英気を養っておこうと考えた。
鹿児島はさすがに島津のお膝元だけあって飲み屋のかずは圧倒的である。しかしゆっくり静かにおいしいものを、と考えたとたんに選択肢は激減する。
三映はそういった選択肢の中の貴重な一軒である。薩摩料理のコースということで一通りの料理が供されたが、天候の不安をよそに刺身の鮮度と質は申し分ないものであった。
お決まりのきびなごは言うに及ばず錦江湾で上がったという鯛もこの季節にしては十分なものである。（この鯛はアラは焼き物、出汁は雑炊となって都合3回膳に上ることとなった。）
さらに焼酎の苦手な自分にとって鹿児島は和食に合わせる酒に困る町であったのだが日本酒も置いてあるのでこの点非常にありがたい。
女将と仲居の接客もくどくなく、個室でも実に過ごしやすい。
こうして鹿児島最後の夜を満喫し、台風接近が報じられる中仕事先の島へ向け出航したのであった。
