Enjoy traditional food culture while admiring the four seasons in a traditional Kyoto townhouse that has been designated a cultural asset
Nishiki Market is filled with the nostalgic atmosphere of Kyoto. Chikamata is located along Miyuki-cho Street near the eastern end of Nishiki Market. This is a long-established restaurant that inherit
...s the traditions of Kyoto cuisine and the spirit of hospitality. It was founded in 1801. The building, a typical townhouse built in the Meiji era, was registered as a "Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan" by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in March 2001. The food served here can be described in one word as "seasonal delicacies." There is no set menu here. Depending on the season and in response to the requests of the guests, chefs who have mastered the art of Japanese-style meal will prepare a variety of memorable dishes. Delicately extracting the dashi stock and making the most of the ingredients' natural flavors. It was an eye-opener to realize that this is the essence of cooking.
