Enjoy "Meidai Uoke," glossy Edo-style grilled eels lined up in cedar barrels, in a Kyoto townhouse reminiscent of Gion.
"We entrust our spirit to eel to the single letter 'U'. " As the proverb goes, 'Five years to open, eight to skewer, a lifetime to grill,' the training required to master the taste of Edo grilled eel |
A famous steamed eel restaurant in Gion. When you enter through the noren, you will find a wonderful space with the atmosphere of an ancient capital. The restaurant's signature dish is the "Uoke" (steamed eel), but there are also various other dishes to choose from depending on the amount you want to eat. The steamed eel is soft and has a very refined taste, and you can adjust the sweet and spicy sauce to your liking, making it feel like Edo-style eel. I also bought some souvenirs to take home.
