Gion Nishikawa is a two-star Michelin restaurant serving authentic kaiseki cuisine in Gion, Kyoto. I visited the restaurant because it costs just over 12,000 yen for lunch. The chef is a member of the Gion Sasagi family. He is proud to be a chef selected from the Sasagi family. In addition to the counter, there are tables and tatami rooms. There are 10 seats at the counter, but there was only one seat left next to me, and the chef said, "Today is a rare day when there is a vacancy." Five of the customers are foreigners. The menu is not only in Japanese, but also in English on the back. In addition to the menu, the chef himself explains the dishes in English. Foreigners often come to the restaurant, so it seems that he has gradually become able to speak English. He is very friendly and makes you feel at ease. You can feel the good hospitality. ● Aperitif: Yuzu sake ● Appetizer: Marinated chrysanthemum greens, Tiger prawns, pounded yam, flowerhead shiso ● Fugu sashimi: This seems to be a service that is not on the menu. They have a great spirit of service. ●Soup dish... Shrimp potato with white miso, plum carrot, vine greens, pine needle yuzu. The delicious dashi and the fragrant shrimp potato go well with the white miso. ●Appetizer dish... Straw-smoked yellowtail, Portuguese salt, mustard, Hinoe greens, Asatsuki leeks. The yellowtail is fatty and GOOD. ●Grilled dish... Grilled pufferfish on a charcoal grill. It has a very sweet and spicy soy sauce flavor. ●Assun... Mackerel Sushi, Oyster pickled in oil, etc. ●Main dish... Roast beef, onion dressing, green onions. The Kameoka beef is delicious. The dressing has a strong flavor. ●Hot dish... Deep-fried tilefish, deep-fried broth, small turnip, mibuna. The turnip is very juicy. ●Rice dish... Sea bream chazuke, crushed seaweed, wasabi, pickles. I prefer a hotter tai chazuke. ●Sweets... Warabimochi ●Matcha The seasoning is generally more pronounced than Kyoto cuisine. I think that's why foreigners like it.
