3月末に約3年ぶりに京都に戻ってきたが、街も人も雰囲気も変わっておらず安心した。ただ、"居酒屋アニル"というネパール料理屋は、私が学生時代にはなかった気がする。
三条大橋から木屋町通へと人をかき分けるように進み、店の看板を見つけてエレベータを上がる。6階で降りると、目の前に背丈くらいある黒い彫刻が私を迎えた。恐る恐る中へと進むと、ネパール人お兄さんが「いらっしゃいませー！」と顔を覗かせた。
入り口の彫刻も含め、壁にはネパールの一民族ネワール族の伝統的な建築や彫刻が反映されている。パタンやバクタプルの世界遺産を観光したような気分になる。大きな窓からは京都の街並みを眺望できる。日本とネパールの伝統が調和している。

お酒を2杯、ネパール料理を2品食べた。
★ネパールロキシ 770円
ネパールのお酒。日本酒みたいな感じである。ストレートにアルコールを飲んでいると感じるが、それほど飲みにくさはない。
★ザーグチーズモモ 1,210円
ネパール風蒸し餃子"モモ"。日本では鶏肉餡で作られることが多いが、ほうれん草とチーズのモモをここで発見した。
なるほど、6つのモモは外から見ても少し緑味を帯びている。トマトのアチャールの絨毯による赤さも際立つ。
皮がかっちり作られている。インネパチーズのパニールとほうれん草が混ざった中身も、モモとして結構ありだと感じた。ベジタリアン対応でお酒のつまみになり、美味しいモモだった。
★ミックスチャタマリ 935円
これは珍しい。ディープなネワール料理まで提供しているお店でないとありつけない。
チャタマリはネワール風ピザと表現されることが多い。この店のは薄く大きなクレープのような生地に、ひき肉や玉子、青唐辛子などの香辛料が敷かれているイメージである。鋭角で眺めれば眺めるほど、チャタマリは広々としているように見えた。生地の裏面が軽く焦げているためパリッとしていて、かつチヂミのようなモッチリ感もあって美味しい。
★プレーンサワー
テーブル上の案内通り、お店のインスタをフォローしそれをお兄さんに見せると、ドリンクが一杯サービスされた。
酒とネパール料理は食べ終わっては新たに注文し、飲み終わっては新たに注文し、という永遠ループに陥る危険性がある。今日はこのくらいにしておこう、と私はお兄さんに会計をお願いした。3000円近くなったが、居酒屋はそんなものだ。それに、京都は何もかも高いのである。

私の他には10人以上の日本人団体客が2組いらっしゃった。クラブのようなBGMに合わせて、「カンパーイ！」といささか騒々しい声々が私のほうにも流れてきた。私は黒いパーカーを来ていたのもあり、こういう時、小学校の国語の教科書に出てきた『スイミー』みたいだなといつも思う。
