"その手は桑名の焼蛤"
私の地元、三重県の桑名市は揖斐川、長良川、木曽川の三大河川の合流地点であり、満潮時には伊勢湾からの海水が上流に満ちる事によって海水と淡水が混ざり合う所で、これにより国内最高の蛤の繁殖生育地となっています。
味は凄まじく美味しいのですが、
上質な桑名の蛤を食べられる場所はかなり限られており、
愛知や三重以外で見かけることはかなりレア。
それも『日の出』『江戸町 すぎもと』や『鮨旬美 西川』などの一級料理屋ばかりです。
特に『日の出』は間違いなく桑名でも一番全国的に知名度のある料亭ですが、実は桑名には当店より更に20年も前、明治34年(1901年)から蛤料理を営んでいる超老舗の料亭があり...それがここ、『魚重楼』なんです。
桑名駅から徒歩10分超、住宅街にそびえる大きな建物。
70名を収容できる大広間や40名を収容できる中広間、小広間、個室...まさに迷宮です。
油断するとお手洗いから部屋に戻れなくなります。
我々も5名で利用するには申し訳ないくらい広いスペースの個室へご案内頂き、圧倒的まったり雰囲気で過ごす事が出来ました。
さて料理に関して、蛤会席コースとおまかせ会席コースでいくつかあるのですが、今回は12,000円のおまかせ会席コースをチョイス。
旬を迎えた上質な桑名の蛤をなんと1人20個以上食べられる超絶コース...。
空腹状態から、ほぼ蛤だけで満腹まで持っていけることの圧倒的多幸感。
桑名の蛤は出汁が取りづらいとたまに聞きますが、身の味わいは上述の通り圧巻。
南蛮漬けや酢味噌など濃い目の味付けでコーティングしようと蛤の旨味が全体の中心からブレる事はありません。
最初から最後まで悶絶級...
特別に対応してもらった〆のうどんもヤバイくらい美味しい...。
『日の出』は予約が取れませんが、ここは取れます。
これだけ食べて料理だけだと10,000円ちょっとで、大量の蛤を様々なバリエーションで提供頂けるので、
個人的にはあちらよりも優れているような気もしますが...メディアの差か。
ま、個人的にはこっちまで予約取れなくなってしまうと困るので今くらいで良いんですけどね！笑
