On the last night of my business trip to Okayama, I went to Sakagura Maruya with two colleagues. Just to be on the safe side, I made a reservation and sat at the counter. Today's order for two people was as follows: ◉ "Suntory The Premium Malt's Draft" 650 yen x 2 ◉ "Maruya's Sashimi of the Day" 1000 yen x 2 Assorted tuna, octopus, sea urchin, yellowtail, and Spanish mackerel. All were fresh and delicious, but the Spanish mackerel was the best. ◉ "Specialty!! Whole Chicken Stew" 750 yen Chicken from Kagawa Prefecture stewed in a soup made from chicken bones combined with a seafood soup made from bonito, Hot Pot, sardines, and Rausu kelp. It was a delicious stew dish with a variety of flavors and richness, different from the Hakata Hanamidori Mizutaki. ◉ "Fried Gala Shrimp" 600 yen Gala shrimp is not very familiar, but the fried Gala shrimp, which is about twice the size of fried small shrimp, was plump, crispy and delicious. ◉ "Super Carbonated Kaku Highball" 500 yen x 8-10 I don't remember how many glasses I drank, but I drank quite a lot for me. They are fragrant and have a strong flavor. ◉ "Maruya's Bara Sushi" 1200 yen This is Okayama's specialty bara Sushi. It is characterized by its plentiful ingredients, including mamakari, Spanish mackerel, yellowtail, and lotus root. I felt that the vinegar was a little too strong, but it was delicious as a final dish. ...That's about it. The bill came to about 6,000 yen per person, and we enjoyed it.
