Perfect for parties or for dining alone. The plump and exquisite "unaju" (eel rice bowl) attracts eel lovers one after another.
"Unagi Hasunuma" is a famous restaurant in Higashi-Urawa. You can enjoy domestically-produced eel that is steamed and grilled after you place your order. The kabayaki, made with extremely fresh eel, i |
Hasunuma is located in Higashi-Urawa. I've been to the main eel restaurants in Urawa, but there are still many more I want to go to. Among them, this is the one I chose today. There's no particular reason, but I just intuitively felt like it was on my mind lol The owner trained at Ginza Owada in Saitama City. It's about a 10-minute walk from Higashi-Urawa Station. It's a homey local eel restaurant. I had a good impression of the customer service on the phone, and it was just as good when I visited the takeaway. However, you can hear the conversations between the staff, so your tastes may vary. I made a reservation just to be safe, but the restaurant wasn't that crowded. However, it seemed like they had a lot of takeout reservations, and people from the neighborhood were coming to pick up their eels one after another. There are four types of eel rice: Matsu, Chiku, Ume, and Tokujo. The difference is the size of the plum and the bamboo. The Tokujo has 1.5 bamboos. This time I ordered a large plum. There was a sign in the restaurant saying that it was produced in Kagoshima Prefecture. There was also the name Koihei, so I wonder if they buy it from Koihei? They steam it after the order is placed. They grill it with gas. There are two types of Japanese pepper on the table, and I can feel their commitment. ▶︎Ordered items ・Unagi rice bowl with plum 4180 yen Pickles, liver soup It came out in about 30 minutes. It was carefully grilled with little burn, and the sauce was skillfully applied to a beautiful color. The delicious aroma of the sauce whets the appetite. It's a 3-pack size. When I tried it, the steaming and grilling were neither too strong nor too weak, and the meat was plump and well-balanced. When I bit into the meat, it crumbled in my mouth, the skin melted and the skin disappeared. The meat still had a moderate texture, but there was no discomfort in the balance of the texture. It was gas, but I could also feel the aroma. The fat was just right, so it wasn't too refreshing, and I could really taste the eel. Personally, I would prefer it to be a bit softer or more flaky. However, I think it was cooked well. The eel is made with care. The sauce is light and subtle. It's a soft, sweet sauce that will appeal to everyone. The eel was served with a small amount of sauce. The rice is firm and has a nice grain, which is quite delicious. The sauce is easy to absorb and not sticky. This type of rice goes well with eel. You can really taste the sweetness of the rice itself. The amount of sauce is also well thought out. There is a little bit of sauce on it, but when you eat it with eel that has less sauce, the sweetness is just right to bring out the eel's flavor. This is the kind of heavy meal you would expect. It's only when you eat the eel and rice together that it is completed in your mouth and becomes delicious. Apparently, a large serving of rice is free, but the regular serving was a good amount. The pickles and liver soup were okay. Both types of Japanese pepper go really well with the sauce and are very tasty. There was a decent amount of food, and although it's not super cheap, I think the price is not too high and is fair. The flavor wasn't outstanding, but it was very tasty. Above all, I was happy with how friendly the staff were. It was a homely and warm atmosphere. Thank you for the meal!
