Founded in 1905! A long-established restaurant that has been grilling eel for nearly 120 years next to Shinjuku Alta at the Shinjuku East Exit. You'll be surprised by the Showa-style storefront in the middle of a big city, but you'll be even more surprised by the classical atmosphere inside the store, which will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the city as if you've traveled back in time! The first floor has 4 seats at the counter, 2 at the table, and 1 seat in the raised area, and the 2nd floor is a tatami room, so it's not very spacious, but it's nice to be able to watch the veteran owner's grilling process from the counter seats. Today I ordered the eel bowl (2,300 yen) for lunch service. I'm happy with this price in the middle of Shinjuku. I had a good impression of being able to watch the eel being grilled from the counter seat, and the owner carefully serving the freshly cooked eel bowl from behind the counter. The eel was grilled with a nice aroma, and the rice was well-cooked with the sauce and slightly soft. No wonder Beat Takeshi and the celebrities who appear on Alta love it so much. Not only am I satisfied with the taste, but the store itself is also worth a visit!
