2023年7月のとある平日の11時過ぎに訪ねた。
目白駅を出て徒歩1分の場所にあるトラッド目白2階の洒落た雰囲気の定食屋「あえん 目白店」。
広い店内は2割程度が客で埋まっていた。来店客のほとんどは女性。
カウンター席に1人で座り、メニューをしばし眺めてから「ハンバーグとトマトのグリル」¥1,460を注文した。
10分ほど待って料理が提供される。
石の器に入ったハンバーグにはチーズと共にグリルされたトマトが乗って、フライドポテトと大葉、生玉ネギが添えてある。そこに小鉢、玄米ご飯、味噌汁、漬物が付く。
まずはハンバーグとトマトを食べてみる。それなりにジューシーさのあるハンバーグとチーズのコクを纏ったトマトの組み合わせは良い感じ。トマトの酸味で後味がスッキリするハンバーグをおかずに玄米ご飯を食べる。ソースはそれほど濃厚ではないので食べやすくはある。
玉ネギと大葉で食べるとよりサッパリとした味わいで和テイストなハンバーグを楽しめる。
小鉢料理は豆腐に山形のだしをかけた一品。ご飯のおかずになるヘルシーな小鉢を味わう。
程好くダシの効いた味噌汁を飲みながら、漬物をつまみ玄米ご飯とハンバーグを食べる。
ボリューム的にはそれほど多くないのであっという間に完食してしまう。
1,460円という値段については、定食を食べに来たと考えてしまうとお得感は無いと思う。居心地の良さを優先させて、友人と広々としたソファ席に座って食事に来るのが正しい利用方法だろう。広い店内には女性客同士の利用が多い「あえん」であった。
