It was just before noon on a weekday, on Waseda Street. I was attracted by the sign in front of the restaurant offering tuna bowls delivered directly from Shimizu Port for 730 yen plus tax, and entered the restaurant. I was shown to a table seat on the second floor, and it seems there are counter seats on the first floor. There were two office ladies there before me, and after me, people working in nearby offices arrived one after another. The Chinese waiter asked me if I would like a large portion of rice and what soft drink I would like, but I was lured in by the sign offering a 100 yen discount if you order a drink with your lunch, so I ordered the Heartland for 480 yen minus 100 yen. Prices on the lunch menu range from 800 yen to just over 1000 yen, so perhaps the prices are a little on the high side. The tuna bowl arrived, a fairly large plate and quite impressive, with a generous amount of skipjack tuna on top, but the meat was a little dry and pitiful. A bit disappointing. The rice was regular rice, not vinegared rice. The large portion was fine, but there were lumps here and there, which felt a bit odd. There was no miso soup in the bowl of the customer at the table next to me, so perhaps they gave it to me instead of the default soft drink. It was pork soup. This pork soup has a strong pork flavor. The accompanying salad and potatoes are moist and go well with Heartland. The quality of the vegetables is not bad either. This lunch was more about the side dishes than the main dish.
