子供の頃、よく祖父につれてきてもらったのを思い出し、今度は子供と入店。
確か当時は屋号が鳥竹という店名だった。
店内は多分当時と変わらないと思うが、広々とした空間。
金曜で混みそうなものが、先客一人。
昨今、蔵前リバーサイドはシエロイリオにはじまり飲食店が多数増えたが、蔵前小学校前のこちらは静かな立地なので仕方ないのだと思う。
和食の店は、通常、メニューをみたら何品かたのんでから食事を頼むのだが、自分にあわないのか何故か頼みたいものなく、子供にはうどんなど先に頼む。
仕方ないので時期はずれだがフグの白子を注文。
程なくでてきたフグの白子の衣がグルテンたっぷりのモチモチな衣…
一緒にでてきた天つゆも鰹の風味が全くなく。
他に頼みたいものがなく、食事としてこの店イチオシのうな重を注文。
10分程ででてきたうな重。
申し訳ないのだが…これまで近所のやしま(マイベスト)から初小川、諏訪のこばやしや滋賀のう晴など、枚挙にいとまがないほど鰻を食べてきたなかでのワースト一位のうなぎだった。
まずうなぎの艶やかさがない。

蕎麦がなくなったから待っててと、近所のコンビニから生麺買ってきておもむろに店で茹で出した駅前の立ち食い蕎麦屋のように、スーパーから買ってきたうなぎを使ったんじゃないかと思ったくらい。
僅か二品とビールのみを食して足早に去ろうとしたら会計一万近く…
自分が成長したのか味が落ちたのか、はたまた自分がお金を出す側になったからなのか、思い出に蓋をしようとした５月の終わりであった
