This was my first visit. There was a picture and description of Jiyugaoka Butter Roll on the sign in front of the store. When I asked inside the store, I was told that this was indeed the recommended choice. It was a little pricey at 420 yen. When I took it out of the bag, it was quite beautiful. It had stripes like Antelope Canyon. When I tore it off, the inside was golden. It had a rich cultured butter flavor. This is a bread that you eat on its own, like a cake. If you eat it with a dish, the flavor of the bread seems to be overshadowed. It was pricey, but worth it. The croissant I was given as a complimentary gift was decent.
