When you come to Toyama, you want to try the white shrimp and firefly squid. So, I visited the Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) "Gensuke" in Uozu. Started with oden appetizer and beer. Of course, the ``assorted sashimi (Other crab meat, yellowtail, tuna, oyster shellfish, squid, fukuragi = young yellowtail, filefish) market price'' includes white shrimp and firefly squid. ...The sashimi is freshly caught, so it's quite delicious. After the sashimi, we added ``firefly squid Tempura''...also simple and delicious ``deep-fried white shrimp'' and ``white shrimp sashimi.'' ...The white shrimp sashimi is sweet and has a melty texture, making it extremely delicious. Furthermore, "white shrimp kakiage"... along with white shrimp, there are a lot of onions. It makes me feel a thud in my stomach. While enjoying the ``White Shrimp Sanmai'', I ordered the ``Daikon Salad'' and ``Eggplant Yaki (440 yen including tax)''...Eggplants topped with soy sauce were simply delicious with a hot, smooth texture. For the grilled fish, I chose ``Rockfish'' and ``Nodoguro''...the former was white and refreshing without expecting too much fat. The skin is also delicious. On the other hand, the latter has quite a lot of fat. It's satisfying to eat. "Yaki Onigiri (2 pieces 440 yen)"...A fairly large size Onigiri. Onigiri coated in soy sauce take about 20 minutes to bake, so if you order them, it's best to time them well and arrive early. The "shellfish soup (clam)" 550 yen (tax included) that I ordered together was also large. The clams were surprisingly small, but the miso soup with green onions was enough to fill your stomach. All of the food is delicious, but the sashimi is not as fresh as you can get in Tokyo. Not to mention white shrimp and firefly squid. The deep-fried white shrimp is also a must-try. The restaurant is so popular that we receive many calls to make reservations for the day, but the owner turns them down. That's amazing. Of course, I've been getting a lot of phone calls for reservations. If you have plans to come to the Uozu area, I think this is a store you'll want to stop by.
