When I went to Shimonoseki, I went to Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) called "Wan" that I found on the website. I was actually planning to go to a fishmonger, but the store was closed on Sundays, so I hurriedly changed my plan to a nearby Izakaya (Japanese-style bar). It's on the second floor of a deserted building, so I wonder if it will be open until the entrance is opened. However, when I entered, it was already crowded with many customers. It would have been dangerous if I hadn't made a reservation in advance. We were shown to a private room in the back. Even though it's almost full, you can barely hear the voices around you, making it a very calming environment. The salad was brought to me right away, but I was told that no matter how many times I reordered it, I would only have to pay for the toppings. I have no recollection of such a system in Hakata. I was very impressed with the healthy service. (The cabbage at Yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) is free, but...) We started with draft beer and sashimi, and then ordered many dishes such as Sukiyaki, cheese meatballs, and grilled mackerel. The sashimi was very fresh considering it is a port town, and Other menu items were Creative Cuisine, delicious, and gave the impression that they had been well researched. At the end, I received a complimentary miso soup, and I ended the meal with matcha tiramisu. I couldn't go to the fishmonger's shop, so I can't compare, but I was more than 100% satisfied with my night in Shimonoseki.
