He was born in Akita Prefecture. His father, Nara Fumio, opened "Old-fashioned Kiritanpo in 1991, with the desire to "let people experience the taste of truly delicious Kiritanpo, not the Kiritanpo made by commercial companies." His daughter Yuko then took over the business, and it continues to this day. Kiritanpo, made with rice carefully selected with his own unique taste and carefully grilled in a charcoal grill, is loved not only by locals but also by gourmets all over the country.

The "Kiritanpo hotpot" served at the restaurant uses soup made by slowly simmering the bones of Hinai Jidori chicken from Odate for eight hours.
