初めてお邪魔したのは1985年11月2日。40歳になったばかりの頃、奇しくも阪神タイガースが全国制覇を決めた日。神戸の街中に六甲颪が吹き荒れていました。
以来ほぼ毎年、私的ミシュラン3星のお店として、東京から飛行機に乗って妻と一泊二日の至福の時を味わっていましたが、新型コロナウィルスの影響でちょっと足が遠のき、2年ぶりの訪問となりました。
お願いしたのは一番スタンダートだと思えるヘレ200グラムのコース。そしてワインは甲州のモンシェルバンを一本。
本当は半カレーも食べたいのですが、喜寿を迎えてしまった年齢を考えると、残念ながら入らない。そして、デザートのアップルパイが無くなってしまったのも残念ですが、プリンは健在。どちらにするか悩まずに済むのはありがたい事なのかもしれない。
前菜もサラダが美味しい。そしてコーンポタージュスープに入っているクルトンが熱々だったのにはビックリ。炭火の釜で焼かれたブロック状のヒレステーキ、表面はカリッ、中はジューシー。妻はミディアムウェルダン、私はミディアムで焼加減は上々。お店の名物ガーリックトーストは時間が経つと味も口触りも落ちてくるので、早めに食べてしまった方が良いでしょう。
デザートを食べコーヒーを飲み終えるまで、入店してから1時間ちょっと。美味しい物をテンポ良く出してくれると、食べる方もせっせと美味しく味わえるということ。
隠れ家的雰囲気の中、美味しいステーキを堪能した後は、ぶらぶらと散歩しながらオリエンタルホテル17階のザ・バージェイダブリューハートへナイトキャップを引っかけに・・・
