ChefTomohisa Matsumoto - A famous chef beloved by many customers
Born in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1951, he aspired to be a Sushi chef in his teens and trained at a Sushi restaurant in Osaka. He then returned to Miyazaki and opened Sushi restaurant in Sadowara Town in his twenties, which became a beloved local spot. In 1990, 15 years after opening, he moved to Nishitachibana-dori, Miyazaki City's most popular shopping district. He renovated it as Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) and has been loved by many customers for a long time ever since. His motto is "to provide fresh ingredients and freshly made food." His karaage, chicken slowly fried at high temperature, is said to be a must-try dish.

The appeal of Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) Tenichi is that the ingredients are freshly caught and the food is freshly prepared. On the counter are lined with the bounty of each season, such as freshly caught Miyazaki ingredients such as Japanese milk crabs caught off the coast of Sadowara and log-grown shiitake mushrooms from Takachiho in late autumn. The food is prepared simply to bring out the best in the nutritious taste of the ingredients. The popular sashimi platter is also made with fish caught that morning from Nichinan City. To finish off the meal, lettuce rolls, Sushi sushi dish that originated in Miyazaki, are popular.

The owner, Sachiko, is in charge of selecting the drinks. She visits liquor stores to select the drinks on the menu, which mainly feature shochu from Miyazaki breweries. The shochu is served with ice and water so that customers can adjust the strength to their own liking. They also have local beer from Unkai Brewery in Aya Town, Miyazaki, and a selection of famous sake brands from around the country.

Their delicious drinks, delicious food and attentive service have earned them a reputation for being loved by a wide variety of customers, both from within and outside the prefecture.
