[A rare restaurant even in the Kansai region!] A specialty restaurant where you can eat live sardine dishes.
Sardines are literally weak fish, as they are said to die if you even touch them with your hands. We catch these sardines alive, transport them alive, and deliver them to our customers alive! The fish |
Iwashifune is a restaurant specializing in sardine dishes located near Toyoko Inn, about a 15-minute walk from Sakai Higashi Station on the Nankai Koya Line. The nearest station is Ookoji Station on the streetcar line. On this day, two of us visited at around 7:30 p.m. on a weekday. The interior of the restaurant has a long-established atmosphere with a sense of history. The first floor has a counter and tables, and the second floor is a tatami room. The menu lineup includes more than 30 different sardine dishes, including sashimi -Simmered dish-Vinegared dish- grilled dishes -Sushi. Among them, the lineup of dishes we ordered were: ◾️ (appetizer) Sardine Simmered dish ◾️ Hamo no yubiki (780 yen including tax) ◾️ Akagai zuri (880 yen including tax) ◾️ Sardine seared tataki (580 yen including tax) ◾️ Sardine oshibushi x2 (760 yen including tax) ◾️ Sardine on the back (720 yen including tax) ◾️ Sardine shioyaki (salt grilled) (380 yen including tax) ◾️ Sardine Tsumire Soup (380 yen including tax) In addition to five sardine dishes, we enjoyed boiled hamo and sashimi of akagai (red clam). In the sardine dishes, I enjoyed the crunchy texture of the "back ribs" which was addictive and delicious. The sardine pressed sushi was a dish where the sardine meat, lightly vinegared, was so well mixed with the vinegared rice that I could eat as many rolls as I wanted. The sourness of the plum paste between the sushi rice and the sardines was a nice accent. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the sake I drank with the fresh sardines made me forget my daily fatigue. I would like to visit this restaurant regularly in the future when I travel to Osaka on business.
