ChefKazunori Otowa (Otowa Kazunori) - Spreading Tochigi's gourmet food to the world
Born in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture in 1947, he traveled to Europe at the age of 22 and became the first Japanese to study under the late Alain Chapel, a leading figure in the French cuisine world. After returning to Japan, he opened a French restaurant in Utsunomiya at the age of 34. He laughs and says, "We are three brothers," along with his eldest son, Gen-san (left), who serves as head chef, and his second son, Hajime-san (right), who serves as manager.

Based on the idea that "regional restaurants should be important cultural hubs in their communities," they actively use ingredients from Tochigi and the surrounding area. In order to obtain the best ingredients, they hold discussions and study sessions with producers from time to time, working together to improve their skills and foster Tochigi's gourmet terroir.

It is less than 10 minutes by car from the center of Utsunomiya. The current restaurant is located along the Tagawa River and is a single building with exposed concrete that gives it a modern and stylish impression. In addition to the main dining room that can accommodate 80 people, there are also private rooms, and it is used for a variety of purposes such as weddings and seminars as well as dinner parties.
