I ate the limited edition unaju.
I love eel, just like my father, but I can't eat it often because of the price (^^;) At the moment, my favorite eel specialty restaurants are Unagiku in Ofuna and Suminobo in Mishima. I've also been interested in Shimamura in nearby Takada, but it's delicious but quite expensive, so I haven't been able to go yet (I'll save that for when I have a sponsor...lol). This year, the heat has been so intense since the beginning of summer that I'm feeling exhausted. I couldn't wait for the doyo season, so I bought some reasonably priced grilled eel from a fish shop, but the surface becomes soggy if it's been a while since it was made (it was a domestic product, and it was large, fatty, and delicious). I was thinking that I'd like to eat it freshly grilled outside, and then I saw an article on the Facebook page of this restaurant, which I sometimes visit, that they will be offering unaju only from 7/24-26. I went there on the first day of the service! The fragrant grilled eel was served with sansho pepper. Actually, I'm not a big fan of sansho pepper, so I appreciate being able to add just a little bit myself to suit my taste. The sauce is not too sweet, giving it a mature flavor. It's delicious right to the end without being overwhelmed by the sweetness. The broth for the liver soup is also soft and easy to drink. The sesame seeds on the pickled radish topping are also delicious and make a great palate cleanser. And when I was paying, I noticed that there was an aquarium next to the register with sweetfish swimming in it, so I left the restaurant feeling a little refreshed. Thank you for the meal!

[3 minutes walk from Aoyama-itchome Station] Locally produced, seasonal vegetables and fish, business entertainment courses, hidden restaurant
A Japanese restaurant with ties to Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. A hideaway restaurant located in the quiet Aoyama area. We offer seasonal vegetables and fresh fish delivered directly from the farm |
I got my bonus, so I decided to have a luxurious lunch♪ It was only 5 minutes away from the station, but it was so hot that I ordered a beer. This restaurant has ties to Yamaguchi, so the draft beer is "Chomage Beer", which is made in Yamaguchi. It was fruity and refreshing, and I gulped it down. Since it was hot, I thought I'd have some cold noodles, but they only had hot udon that day (they said they'll be serving cold soba noodles + Tempura soon), so I ordered the "Obanzai Gozen" that I've had before. The appetizer that came out with the beer was "grilled sesame tofu". How do they grill this sesame tofu with a bouncy texture? I wonder if they use a salamander or something to quickly grill the surface. It was peanut flavored? It was covered with a salty and nutty sauce, which went perfectly with the sesame tofu. I'm glad I ordered a beer (lol) Next came some small dishes and sashimi in a basket. This sashimi is also sourced from Yamaguchi, and it's always really delicious. I want to eat more, so please bring back the sashimi set meal! I always ask, but they don't listen (lol). I usually try soy sauces from various regions on the table, but this time, the parboiled conger eel came with roasted sake (plums put into the sake to give it a flavor), which was also delicious. The small dishes range from mildly seasoned to well-cooked ones that go well with rice. Each dish has a strong dashi flavor and is delicious. By the way, the brewery facilities of Asahi Shuzo, the brewery of Yamaguchi's sake "Dassai", were flooded in the heavy rain the other day, so I wonder if this will affect future purchases and prices? The chef seemed busy halfway through, so I wasn't able to ask him on the way home. I'll come again if I feel like splurging!
