Born in Tochigi Prefecture in 1982, he was drawn to Szechuan Cuisine from an early age and aspired to become a chef at a young age. He trained at the famous Chinese restaurant "Azabu Choko" and devoted himself to Chinese cuisine for 10 years. He then moved to the Japanese Cuisine restaurant "Ryugin" to elevate the authentic flavor of China to a dish that matches Japanese ingredients, climate, and tastes. Having mastered the techniques and spirit of Japan, he opened "Chazenka" in 2017. He utilizes his extensive knowledge of Chinese tea to provide tea pairings that match innovative dishes.

The seasonal courses are arranged with inspiration from conversations with guests. Chef Kawada's talent for Japanese cuisine, including charcoal grilling, where ingredients are carefully selected for their condition, and clear, golden soup, are a visual delight. What is most refreshing is the pairing of the wide variety of dishes, served with a pleasant rhythm, with Chinese, Taiwanese, and Japanese teas, carefully selected for their temperature and brewing method. Located in a residential area away from the hustle and bustle, this stately house was converted from an embassy residence. Once you step through the lush bamboo forest and into this extraordinary space, you will find yourself in a classically modern world. The elegant display of plates, vases, tea utensils, and other items carefully selected to go with the food is refreshing, and the bamboo forest outside the window adds a touch of gentleness to the space. Beautiful furnishings such as antique tables that stimulate the senses are also part of the charm of this restaurant.
